Once again throwing my hat in the ring:
My wife Helen and I are the definition of "it's a marathon not sprint" when it comes to old house restoration,we celebrated our 34th wedding anniversary last week and have been "working" on this place since we purchased it from my family for just as long.Our story would be one of fits n starts...geting started,putting things aside when our girls (2 ) arrived,picking back up when time and money allowed.Always though focusing on the end game,the fun of the journey...and hunt for vintage materials to do the old place justice,everything from flooring (most of our floors are salvaged maple or pine from homes or churches slated for demolition)to light fixtures.We are in the home stretch...wish I were 20 years younger to start all over again.
